Final thoughts

Having written this guide I have further understood that there is a lot more to property investing than most people think (this guide is 8,000 words and I could have written a lot more – nearly as long as my dissertation!). It is a profession being a property investor and it is quite hard to be any good at it. I constantly learn new things but don’t look back and wish I had done things differently – I do learn and do things differently in the future. I don’t believe in the ‘opportunities missed’ school of thought. We are surrounded by opportunities the key is to identify them and do something about them.

It is true that there has been a great capital increase in property over the last 10 years and that as an investor I have benefitted from it. This hasn’t been a skill on my part but you have to actually do something to benefit rather than just watching. It is hard work being a property investor and I’m glad that one day I will be able to reap the benefit!

My biggest piece of advice for any property investor is to do your homework and not to suffer poor service. Both of these are remedied with a bit of work and advice.
